Character and Leadership Development
We empower youth to support and influence their Club and community, sustain meaningful relationships with others, develop a positive self-image, participate in the democratic process, and respect their own and others’ cultural identities.
Program Examples
Leadership Clubs:
Kids Club, Torch Club, Keystone Club are service and leadership clubs. Members elect officers and work together to implement service projects for the Club and community.
Youth of the Month/Youth of the Year:
This program promotes and recognizes service to Club, community and family; academic performance; moral character; life goals; and poise and public speaking ability. Local Clubs recognize members ages 14-18 who were Youths of the Month and select a Youth of the Year, who then participates in state competition. State winners participate in a regional competition, with the winner going to the national competition at the annual Boys and Girls Club Congressional Breakfast in Washington, DC.
